A stadium back in active use
Following major renovation, Grand Stade de Tanger is returning to the live sporting calendar. The official Ittihad Riadi de Tanger site lists a home fixture at the venue on 2 October 2026 and the Moroccan federation schedules a national-team match there two days later.
For travellers, this means the venue is no longer only a project under renovation; it is entering real operation.
Tangier and high-speed rail
Tangier has a major multi-city travel advantage: Al Boraq connects it with Kenitra, Rabat and Casablanca. You can arrive through TNG airport or by ferry and move south without an internal flight.
On match day, add the urban trip to the stadium and any temporary event controls.
Where to stay in Tangier
Neighbourhood choice depends on priorities: medina and waterfront for city experience, newer areas for straightforward road access. For a match, connection to transport may matter more than theoretical proximity to the venue.
What still needs confirmation for 2030
Final fixture allocations, gates, shuttles, traffic perimeters and entry rules must come from official tournament information. Being operational today does not automatically fix the venue's complete 2030 configuration.
Prepare a Tangier match
Confirm arrival station or airport and the hotel transfer.
Avoid a train that reaches Tangier too close to kick-off.
Check match-specific traffic plans.
Plan the return after the event.
Use Al Boraq for Rabat or Casablanca when useful.
Recheck the 2030 configuration when FIFA publishes details.
